Geostrategos is a consulting firm specializing in strategic intelligence, geopolitical risk analysis and foresight, focused on the Andean region and the Caribbean Basin.

We offer rigorous analysis of the environment and genuine capacity to build relationships with key decision-makers.

Team

The people behind the firm

Víctor Mijares

Executive Director

Professor and researcher specializing in foreign policy, security, defense and geopolitics. His work focuses on Latin America and on republican petrostates, with particular emphasis on Venezuela.

He is Associate Professor of Political Science and Global Studies at Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia), where he also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal Colombia Internacional. He is also an associate researcher at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA).

He holds a degree in political science from Universidad Central de Venezuela and a PhD in Political Science from Universität Hamburg.

He has taught at Universidad Central de Venezuela, Universidad Simón Bolívar, Universität Hamburg, Jagiellonian University and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.

He is the founder and Executive Director of Geostrategos, a consulting firm specializing in geopolitical risk analysis and strategic intelligence.

Diego Mejía Ortega

Senior Analyst

Geopolitical and risk analyst and strategic communications consultant, specializing in strategic intelligence, foresight and risk analysis for companies and decision-makers.

He holds a degree in political science from Universidad de los Andes, where he has also taught continuing education courses in geopolitical analysis, international relations, politics, war and conflict. He holds a master’s degree in National Security and Defense from the Escuela Superior de Guerra (Colombian War College).

He currently works as a public affairs and strategic communications consultant, advising companies across sectors on analysis of the political and regulatory environment, reputational crisis management, and the design of positioning and stakeholder engagement strategies.

His experience includes political and regulatory analysis, country and sector risk scenarios, early warning systems and strategic inputs for leadership teams. He works on integrating geopolitical and political variables into corporate decision-making, as well as on crisis management and engagement with key actors in the public, private and social sectors.
